SPF, which is an acronym for Sender Policy Framework, is an e-mail safety system, that is designed to verify whether an email message is sent by a licensed server. Employing SPF protection for a particular domain name will prevent the faking of email addresses made with the domain. In simple words: activating this attribute for a domain makes a specific record in the Domain Name System (DNS) containing the IP addresses of the servers that are permitted to send e-mails from mailboxes under the domain. When this record propagates globally, it will exist on all the DNS servers that route the Internet traffic. When some email message is sent, the first DNS server it uses tests whether it originates from an authorized server. If it does, it is sent to the destination address, but when it doesn't come from a server part of the SPF record for the domain, it is rejected. Thus nobody will mask an email address then make it look as if you're sending spam messages. This method is also known as email spoofing.

SPF Protection in Shared Website Hosting

If you host your domain names in a shared website hosting account on our end and we handle the e-mails for them, you will be able to activate SPF protection for all of them with a few clicks in your Hepsia Control Panel. This service is accessible in a section of its own where you're able to view which domain names are already secured. For those which aren't, you will be able to activate the SPF protection option and manage various things at the same time - the hostnames of the mail servers that are allowed to send messages from your mailboxes, the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses of these servers, and to create a rule that email messages can be sent only if your domains include our MX records. The aforementioned option is the most secure one, but you can use it if we manage the e-mails for your domain names and you are not using a different email provider. The new records will be activated within 24 hours and nobody will be able to fake the FROM field in a message with your email addresses.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

The Hepsia website hosting Control Panel, which is included with all our Linux semi-dedicated hosting packages, provides you with a very easy-to-use interface to activate the SPF security service for any domain name that you host inside your new account. A few clicks in the Emails section of Hepsia will be enough for that then you'll only have to enter the hostname and the IP address of the mail server that will be permitted to send messages from your e-mails. When the email messages are managed on our end and not by some other provider, you can raise the protection level even more and activate an option for all of the outgoing emails to be sent only if your domains include our MX records. This option will give you better control and it will eliminate any chance of somebody faking your e-mails with the intention of spamming and / or scamming people. It is not applicable when only your website is hosted on our advanced cloud web hosting platform, while your emails are managed by another service provider. If you are not sure what features to pick, our technical support team will help you 24/7.
